Sigmation's cable tensiometers are small, self-contained units designed to provide direct readings of aircraft control cable tension. The units are ruggedly constructed and require a minimum of care over long periods of use. A wide range of cable sizes and tensions can be measured with the two units.

Using only one hand, the tensiometer may be clamped to the cable under test by the operation of the lever on side of the unit. When being used in obscure places a "off-on" button is provided to lock the dial pointer at its reading position, so that the unit can be removed and read. The indicator dial is adjustable to the proper zero setting to compensate for cable of different diameters and temperature changes. A cable size indicator is incorporated to measure unknown cable diameters.

Calibration of the instrument is readily checked with a reference test bar supplied with each unit. Because cables of same sizes may vary in diameter, lay of stranding, lubrication, and flexibility, a tolerance of 5% should be considered for average cables. The smaller size of cables will produce more accurate readings than the heavier cables.

A wood, padded carrying case is included to secure and protect the unit when not in use. Complete instructions for presetting, taking readings, and caring for Type C-8 and C-9 tensiometers are on the inside cover of the carrying cases.
